Tullimbar Public School’s vision for reconciliation is for our staff, students and the community to work towards establishing a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and to ensure First Nations Peoples and their living and diverse cultures are recognised, valued and embraced.
We will facilitate educational opportunities for our whole school community to be a part of creating an environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are recognised and celebrated. We are committed to ensuring that the language and customs of our local Aboriginal community are respectfully embedded across all areas of learning.
Our school will work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and community members to promote a respectful understanding of our shared history. We will continue to strive for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to feel culturally safe and heard, and for our wider community to be immersed in a culturally rich and diverse environment.
We acknowledge that our school is on Dharawal Country and respect and value the knowledge, customs and language of the Traditional Owners of the Land.
We acknowledge that our school is on the Lands of the Dharawal, Wodi Wodi and Eloura peoples, a place between the bubara (mountain) and the gadhu (sea).
We would like to pay our respects to Elders past, present and future, to King Tullimbah who our estate is named after, and to his son Tongarra. We respect First Peoples’ deep spiritual connection to Country and acknowledge the importance of Tullimbar as an original meeting place for salt water people and mountain people to exchange goods.
Each day we continue to meet on Country to learn, play and grow. A place to safely connect with Community, culture and Country.
Together we will build a future of harmony and reconciliation.
