Student Behaviour Support and Management

At Tullimbar Public School, we prioritise creating a positive and nurturing learning environment for all students. Our commitment to fostering respectful, responsible, and resilient behaviour is at the core of our educational mission.

Positive Behavior for Learning (PBL)

Our approach is seated in the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework, which provides a solid foundation for guiding student behaviour. We believe that this framework empowers our students to achieve academic success while developing essential life skills.

Clear Expectations and Teaching Behaviour

We have established clear and consistent behaviour expectations across our school, which are readily available in our policy documents. These expectations are communicated to students, parents, and staff, ensuring a shared understanding of what constitutes appropriate behaviour. Our dedicated educators explicitly teach and reinforce these expectations to create a respectful and harmonious school community.

Acknowledging and Reinforcing Positive Behaviour

Tullimbar Public School values the importance of acknowledging and reinforcing positive behaviour. We employ a system of rewards and incentives to celebrate and motivate students who consistently demonstrate positive and respectful behaviour.

Supporting and Adjusting Behaviour

To address behaviour that negatively impacts others, we distinguish between "major" and "minor" behaviours. Our policy documents outline our responses and interventions for each type of behaviour.

Major Behaviors - These are actions that significantly disrupt the learning environment. Our policies outline the interventions and consequences for such behaviours.

Minor Behaviours - These actions are undesirable but do not significantly threaten the school environment, students, staff and visitors. Our policies emphasise education and positive reinforcement to address these behaviours.

Level System

To provide additional support to students who require help managing their behaviour, we have implemented a level system. This system allows us to tailor our response to each student's unique needs. Detailed information about our level system and interventions is available in our policy documents.

We encourage you to explore our policy documents for in-depth information on how we support and manage student behaviour at Tullimbar Public School. By addressing both minor and major behaviours and offering tailored support, we aim to create a harmonious school community that instills the values of respect, responsibility, and resilience.
